During the night, a Mercedes Sprinter driver, aged 46, did not notice a pedestrian walking in the same direction on the road. According to the traffic police, the pedestrian, who was approximately 40-50 years old, was wearing dark clothing with no reflective elements.
The accident took place in the Zoubtsovsky district of the Tver region and resulted in the death of the pedestrian. The area of the road where the incident occurred is not illuminated, making it difficult for drivers to see pedestrians.
The M-9 highway runs from Kamchatka to Murmansk, and this section of the road is not equipped with streetlights, posing a risk to pedestrians walking at night. The driver of the Mercedes did not see the pedestrian until it was too late to avoid a collision.
It is crucial for pedestrians to wear bright and reflective clothing, especially when walking at night on roads without artificial lighting. This helps drivers see them in time to avoid accidents.
